The Best Hairstyles from Met Gala Attendees Through the Years

The 2024 Met Gala is (almost) here! Often dubbed as the "Oscars of the East Coast," is not just a fashion extravaganza; it's a playground for creativity, innovation, and boundary-pushing style. This year’s theme, ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,’ is sure to have many hits and misses… (possibly Disney themed), and while the fashions steal much of the spotlight, the hairstyles are equally deserving of attention. In preparation for our NYC Super Bowl we’re looking back over the past 10ish years to reminisce on our favorite hairstyles from previous Met Galas. Enjoy!

Rihanna's Iconic Yellow Headpiece (2015)

When it comes to the Met Gala, Rihanna never fails to make a statement. In 2015, she graced the red carpet with an extravagant yellow gown complemented by an intricately designed headpiece. Her sleek, long ponytail cascading down her back added a touch of sophistication to the bold ensemble, making it one of the most talked-about looks of the night.

Zendaya's Joan of Arc Inspired Look (2018)

Zendaya's Met Gala appearances are always highly anticipated, thanks to her fearless approach to fashion and beauty. In 2018, she channeled the legendary Joan of Arc with a stunning custom Versace gown and a short, cropped hairstyle reminiscent of armor. The sleek, sculpted waves perfectly complemented the theme of the evening, showcasing Zendaya's versatility and creativity.

Beyoncé's Sky-High Ponytail (2015)

Beyoncé never fails to captivate with her red carpet appearances, and the Met Gala is no exception. In 2015, she graced the event with a show-stopping high ponytail that defied gravity. The voluminous, sky-high hairstyle added a touch of drama to her ethereal Givenchy gown, solidifying her status as a true queen of style.

Cara Delevingne's Metallic Silver Hair (2017)

Known for her edgy and daring style, Cara Delevingne always brings a sense of fun and irreverence to the Met Gala red carpet. In 2017, she turned heads with a futuristic metallic silver hair color that perfectly complemented her bold, shimmering suit. The sleek, side-swept style added a modern twist to her look, proving that when it comes to hair, anything is possible.

Janelle Monáe's Heavenly Halo-Like Hat (2018)

Janelle Monáe is no stranger to pushing the boundaries of fashion and beauty, and her Met Gala looks are always a sight to behold. In 2018, she stunned on the red carpet with a large hat, golden on the underside of the brim, giving the effect of a halo. It was a bold look with a subtle nod to the theme, ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.’
